Maker Interview: WovenBlush

Woven art has made a massive comeback recently. Jodi who works under the studio name WovenBlush makes beautiful statement pieces using simple patterns in monochrome and neutral colours.
.
Who are you?
I am Jodi Osborne, mama of one and the weaver behind WovenBlush.
.
What do you Make/Do?
I make hand woven wall hangings.
.
Do you have a background in craft and design - when did you first start making?
I studied art and design and illustration at college but left that behind when I started work. I worked in social media up until 2014 which is when I had my daughter and became a ‘stay-at-home mum’ and this is when I felt the need to be creative for the first time in a long while! I bought myself a loom and I haven’t stopped since.
.
Can you describe your typical making process?
I am not a planner so I start by going head first into the making process with a vague idea of what I want to achieve and it usually works out ok! I love the monochrome look and my work usually consists of one colour and one neutral, I’m really into the simplicity.
.
What do you enjoy most about the process?
The quiet thinking time, I get to be still and make something I really love. I find the whole process to be therapeutic.
.
Can you describe your studio/workspace?
I wish wish wish that I could have a studio space but until that day, my dining room will have to make do. I would describe it as a half wool store/ half eating area!
.
What keeps you going whilst you work - soundtrack? Snacks? A fluffy sidekick?
Netflix, coffee and a good candle. I can’t even tell you how many Forensic Detectives I’ve watched whilst working!
.
What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?
Circles, circles and more circles. I’m currently on a circle high with my designs.
.
Three things you can’t live without:
My family - gotta have love!
My friends - see above!
My loom and weaving supplies - gotta be creative!
.
Three favourite places:
The Lizard, Cornwall - Sitting in the Polpeor Cafe with a fried breakfast overlooking the coast.
Baydon, Wiltshire - many happy childhood memories at my grandparent’s house.
Byron Bay, NSW Australia - hard to pinpoint one place in Australia after traveling the whole east coast but this place was one of the best.
.
Three favourite foods:
Sushi/Sashimi - I could eat it everyday.
Indian Food - Garlic Chilli Chicken in particular.
Pie! - A good old pie and mash combo.
